Media Prep and Glassware
Glassware
The lab technical assistants, Mary Agnitsch, collect dirty glassware and, wash, autoclave, and stock the clean glassware in the Media Prep room (4525-007) and SynBio3 (4310-077 -079).
Researchers must remove all biological and chemical residue, tape, and markings from dirty glassware before depositing it in collection bins, which are located next to the sinks in each lab.
Do not use broken, chipped, or cracked glassware because it is dangerous and can cause injury. Instead, deposit it in broken glass boxes available in the lab.
Culture Media
Sterile media (LB, LBA, TB, TBA) is available in the Media Prep room (4525-006).
Common media mixes, reagents, sugars, and glycerol are available for use in the media prep room.
Autoclave drop-off and pick-up bins are available in the autoclave room (room 4517). Items can be dropped off in the drop-off bin and will be placed in the next autoclave cycle. Items will then be placed in the pick-up bin.
If you have a large batch of items to be autoclaved, then you can coordinate an autoclave cycle with Mary Agnitsch.
