Assigned Spaces
Lab Ops assigns office and/or laboratory space to full-time employees for their exclusive use. You are accountable for the safety and cleanliness of your assigned spaces. Part-time employees, undergraduates, and interns are not assigned spaces and must share space with their work leads. These workers may temporarily use vacant spaces but must leave the space clean at the end of each day. To request a change in your assigned space(s), please submit a JIRA ticket.
All full-time lab researchers are assigned storage spaces at 4°C, -20 °C, and -80 °C. All items must be stored within the provided racks or bins. This allows for the safe and organized transfer of your items to backup storage in case of cold storage failure. Improperly stored items may be confiscated by the Lab Ops team. If you need additional storage space, please submit a ticket on JIRA detailing the type of space you need and how long it will be needed.
We monitor your assigned cold storage spaces 24/7 with an environmental monitoring service called TRAXX. We will move your items to backup storage if the storage unit fails. Mini freezers and fridges in the lab are not monitored by Lab Ops.
All ESE full-time employees are assigned a Community Job to keep our labs and offices running smoothly, such as maintaining an instrument or a common area. Community Jobs are listed on placards on equipment and benches.
