Materials Transfer Agreement (MTA)
A Material transfer agreement (MTA) is a contract that governs the transfer of tangible research materials between two organizations. This occurs when the recipient intends to use it for his or her own research purposes. An MTA in is signed when research material is transferred to LBNL, an MTA out is signed when LBNL transfers research materials to other institutions.
An MTA has to be signed when transferring material to and from a university/private organization outside of LBNL. This includes cases when research material is being exchanged between partnering institutions.
For research material stored in the Strain Archive, the requester has to fill out this form. For questions contact jbei-strains@lbl.gov.
For research materials created and funded by LBNL DOE programs but stored outside of the Strain Archive, fill out the MTA Online Request Form located on Innovation Portal.
